Hi, my name is Carolina. I am from the island of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands of Spain. I grew up in a Christian family but my parents weren’t truly walking with the Lord. As a result I had a very difficult childhood as my parents were constantly at odds and I was in the middle of a broken dysfunctional family. Even though I would go to church I had a hard time understanding God’s love because of the problems at home.

When I was about 7 years old I was at home, alone, and began to remember a verse we had memorized at church that week: 1 John 1:9.  I began to think that if true confession of my sins would purify anyone it could purify me as well. I knew I had sin in my life and I longed to be cleansed. That day I prayed to accept Christ and He filled the void in my life.

As I have grown, God has given me the desire to know Him more and make Him known to others. I met my husband Dani as a teenager and as we grew into our twenties we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. Soon we were married and life together began.

Six months into our marriage came the greatest shock I had ever experienced.

We were both working hard to make ends meet as a young newly wed couple. One day as I was preparing to go to work, I had a heart attack. It paralyzed the entire left side of my body and I was shocked and terrified. Dani was scared as well. The doctors couldn’t believe what was happening either but they told me that I would be paralyzed on my left side indefinitely, not only this but they also warned me that at some point in my life, I would have another heart attack.

I have never been more scared, I thought my life was over. Naturally, we were praying everyday and throughout the day. Three days passed and miraculously, I was able to move my fingers on my left hand. Within a few days I was able to move all my left side slightly. I was overjoyed! By the end of that month, God restored me to almost full capacity. God had healed me. The doctors couldn’t explain it but I knew exactly what had happened. Today, I still have a little delay in some of my left leg but nobody can tell and I am just happy that God has restored me!

God has been so gracious to Dani and me and now we are in another great adventure as we are attending seminary full time and also starting a church with Manny and Jamie. I am so happy about where we are and seeing God open doors and provide for the work we are doing. I can’t wait to see what is in store for life ahead!
